The Outliers is a historical fantasy series about people with supernatural abilities. The production of the project was carried out by the Lunapark film company
and Plus Studio.
The Outliers is a film adaptation of the book of the same name by Alexandra Yakovleva. The series was shot according to the original script by Elena Voitovich.
Together with the Kinopoisk team, we worked on the development of promotional materials for the film - logo, posters, animation.
In terms of visual style, we were inspired by steampunk aesthetics, but did not stick to pure steampunk. Because the action takes place in a universe with more advanced technologies. At the same time, we did not want obvious metaphors and explicit references to Soviet aesthetics - after all, the universe is fantastical.
The main element of the composition is a graphic symbol, the emblem of a mystical German organization. The development of this motif is also reflected in the space around the sign.
Copper, brass, and mechanisms in the composition represent retro and references to steampunk. Blue glow and fog represent the mystical component. The result is a classic teal/orange color scheme, but in a more muted, vintage execution.
